Irishfest-La
Crosse recognizes the value of harp competition as a way for competitors
to show mastery of Celtic harp skills and its cultural significance
to the community presented in a public forum. The 2010 Celtic Harp
Competition is meant to encourage harp players to become competent
performers of Celtic music, to broaden their repertoire of Celtic
music and to further cooperation of harp groups and organizations
involved in Celtic music.
Cash
and other prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place
in each category, except non-competitive.

Robertson, Competition Judge

Judge Kim Robertson is
a renowned performer and instructor who has stretched the boundaries
of the harp for a new generation of performers and audiences. Born
in Wisconsin, she is classically trained on piano and orchestral
harp.

Workshop
with Kim Robertson PLAYING BACK-UP
Learn how to accompany other instruments or voice, using two-hand
patterns, power-chords, musical sandwiches and more. Focus will
be
on one- and two-hand patterns that are easy to play but create more
rhythmic interest, including tips for sitting in at a Celtic session.
All
levels, hands-on, basic knowledge of chord-structure helpful.
